Alcohol is especially harmful to teenagers as their organs have not developed enough to combat the harmful effects. Binge drinking can literally become deadly dangerous and teenagers can be ignorant of the consequences of such irresponsible drinking.
Accidents, suicides and violence are significant causes of death in 16 – 25 year olds and alcohol is frequently the factor in all cases.
Studies have proved that teenagers and young adults who drink heavily have shrinkage in areas of the brain responsible for memory and learning, which damages the ability to retain information, impacting significantly on exam performance.
